Round up: The Hunger Games

If you haven't read the book I'm not going to tell the story or spoil the excitement, but every one in my office read the complete series and we all got super into it!!!

I've mentioned the book to a few of my friends out side of work, and was pleasantly surprised to find that quite a few of them enjoyed it as much as I did!!

I was inspired by Katness and the fighters in the Districts and all the Delicious foods and extreme fashions of the folks in the capital.

So this Round Up is in honor of The Hunger Games!!

All of the foods sounded awesome, but what stuck with me was Katness's favorite lamb stew with plumbs.

Particularly because I really love lamb, but only have it prepared at Indian restaurants. This one on Fictional Food looks delicious!!

This whole blog, Fictional Food is brilliant!!

Bring food from the page to the plate.

This print is . I like the masculine tone with the blues and the clean fonts, and that it's not completely obvious that it's a reference to the book....but those who know.....know.

I tried to find where the print came from, but from pintrest.com it was just linked to a Tumbler account. If I come across it on Etsy, a will absolutely 100% add a link to it in here.

The Helmut Lang, Weathered Shearling Jacket is fantastic!!! It's a great mix of a classic feminine leather jacket, with the sleek and slender out line, but also a bit more modern with the off set zipper and wrap up hood.

I can easily see a sheath of arrows thrown over the shoulder here, as our heroine is running through the woods.

I really loved that Katness's little sister Prim, has a goat, not only for the money from selling the milk, but it also seems to be a bit of a pet too.
In England, some friends of my parents had goats at their house. They by no means we're living out in the farm lands, but rather in the middle of a pretty populated area, and constantly shouted the praise of their little ladies!!

One day, when we have a bit more space (for them to roam and to build them a little pin) I would LOVE to have a few goats!!!

These were some great resources on urban goat keeping.

The Goat Justice League

Urban Farm Online - Which I will for sure be checking out again. A great resource for every thing from chicken coops to container planting.

And it has inspired me to wear my hair in a long, gorgeous, glamorous, yet practical for the games, braid, ala Miss. Katness Everdeen

Round Up : Keep on keepin' on.

Recently this poster has been ALLOVER the place, and I am totally OK with that. I love the message and history it represents, and over all it's a simple little affirmation to give your self when the going gets tough.
I stumbled across a few of the iconic images plastered onto other every day items and thought I would Round them Up and share some of my favorites!!!

(There will be another Round Up on some fantastic posters displays soon....just you wait!!!)

What an awesome way to welcome your guests!!!

But I prefer this aqua beauty!

My water canteen is never too far away, and with the bright color it would be hard to miss place this one.

I'm a constant sniffler and sneezer, so these would make a great addition to my notoriously overstuffed and unorganized purse.

An awesome gift for a groom? graduating senior? I nice message to bestow on someone starting a new exciting chapter of their life.

Almost darling enough to make me want to replace my brand new set........or maybe a few of the red ones would fit right in?!

Although not cute enough for me to want my own to dress up, this definitely has me hoping for more babies in the future for the rest of the family( DO YOU HEAR ME, MEGAN & DEVON!?).

I'm completely in L-O-V-E the Union Jack pillow!! I've been looking for ways to display it in the house(woooohooooo dual citizenship shout out!!!!) and I think this may be it.

Book.
I picked up this book last year when I stopped into an Urban Outfitters last year and I just love it. It's full of little inspirational quotes and tidbits.

P.S. I found this too, pretty funny.

Round Up: In my dream living room......

Here are just a few of the things that I've been ogling over and picturing in my living room for the past few months. I know that almost none of this stuff matches each other, but if you know me, or have ever been in my house, you know that's just the way I like it!!!!!!

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Bank Rug

(It's made to order. I would really LOVE one with a black or silver frame around it & Roman numerals!!!!!)

Decorative Birdcage

There are at least 5 different things I would like to do with some pretty, delicate birdcages like these......plants, candles, Christmas lights.........................

Round Up: Keepin' it Easy

As I'm sure most of you know, this (not today, but this past week or so) is the 5 year anniversary of the catastrophe that was Katrina and the devastating aftermath that followed.

Unlike the news shows and TV specials which are just focusing on the actual city of New Orleans and it's rebuilding in the aftermath, I wanted to pay tribute in a different way.

Here are a few things that I found in my internet travels that could be used to bring the spirit of the Big Easy in to your home.

Ceramic Mardi Gras Masks
A cluster of these hanging on the wall would look awesome for the Mardi Gras season.

This lovely chair is unfortunately sold out!!! But it would make a bold statement for a sophisticated office set up.

I love these!!! I'm really digging the muted palate used, I think by holding back on the colors the artist really lets the movements of the musicians and instruments show.

This hanging light is reminiscent of the lanterns you'll find around the French Quarter. If you look closely you'll see that the details around the top of the glass is a pattern of Fleur De Lis!!!

This was by far my favorite find!!! I would REALLY like to add this to my front porch!

Round Up: Lovely Liquid Lights!!!

Over the last few months I have seen these sparkly light fixtures popping up all over the place. These liquid like lamps would really work well on a desk, bed side table or reading nook.

I love how curvy and round most of them are and I'm also really digging how versatile they can be. They're shinny and sparkly (which I totally love) and with a white or bright colored shade would go nicely with a more feminine look, but with the black shades they are also kind of industrial and metal like would make a great addition to a dark, cave of a bedroom (as to not alienate our man friends too much).

Grammercy Mercury Glass Table Lamp

Unfortunately this lovely slender thing of beauty, was the only one in my price range, for $19.90 ad JC Penny's , and is also the ONLY one that's discontinued!

Round Up: Proud as Peacock

[ an old post from an old blog ]

As Most people know, I'm a HUGE fan of peacocks. The birds, the feathers, paintings, t-shirts, tattoos, purses, jewelry, pottery, art work.........I love all of it.

While exploring the Urban Outfitters site (which is always good for a bit of design inspiration) a few months ago, and came across this beauty.

And so began my obsession!! Since then I have been on the (internet) hunt got a peacock rug.

There has to be on in our living room....I NEED THIS!!!

I found a few more with a varying price range, each one as fantastic as the last.
